It is with great pleasure that The British Pakistani Psychiatrists Association (BPPA) announces to establish ‘The BPPA Annual Clinical Audit Competition’. The aim of this competition is to promote an interest in clinical audit amongst young Pakistani health professionals and students and to honour and recognize their clinical audit work. The Competition is not restricted to any sub-speciality and work carried out in any psychiatric field will be considered.

The competition will be in two stages

1. First Stage: It will involve submission of completed clinical audit projects by young Pakistani health professionals/students. Out of these submissions 6 best projects will be short-listed for the Second Stage. All short-listed entries will be entitled to a certificate of excellence.

2. Second Stage: The investigators of short-listed projects will be invited to present their projects at the BPPA Annual Conference and a winner and runner up will be selected. They will be entitled to a certificate of excellence and a memorial shield.

Rules and Regulations

a. The nominees must be working in a training or non consultant career grade post or be students of medical/health sciences at a recognised academic institution.

b. They must be the sole or principal auditor of the project

c. Their project, related to any psychiatric discipline, must have been carried out during twelve calendar months preceding the closing date. For the 2007 competition the eligibility period will be 24 calendar months preceding the closing date.

d. A three members Evaluation Committee comprising senior clinicians will assess the submissions using objective criteria to prepare a short-list. The decision of the committee will be final

e. The authors of short-listed projects will be invited to present their projects at the Annual Conference of BPPA

f. A panel of three judges comprising senior clinicians will judge the winner and runner up of the competition and their decision will be final

g. The nominees must submit three sets of the following documents

  • A completed nomination form, relevant sections must be completed by the co-auditors and the Head of the Department
  • A copy of up to date curriculum vitae
  • A complete copy of their presentation clearly identifying the title, names of all the auditors and name of the institution where audit was carried out
    2007 Competition

All nominations must reach by post to Dr. Sohail Qureshi, Secretary BPPA by 15 September 2007

The short-list will be announced by 15 October 2007. The authors of the short-listed entries will be invited to present their projects at the at the Annual Conference of BPPA in November 2007 where the winner and the runner up will be judged by a panel of senior clinicians. The presentation of memorial shields and certificates of excellence will then follow.
